big city life
Heyhey
Sorry Im slack I know....well it been dramatic times over here.
First of all the arrest of 17 terrorist suspects with enough explosives to do damage 3x the Oklahoma bombing which killed 168ppl...hmm. Pretty full on eh, Jase wants to avoid the subway coz reckons they will target it.
The TTC (subways, buses, and streetcars) did an illegal strike the other day so 700,000 commuters were stranded couldnt get to work, school etc it was chaos the city basically shut down, my poor flatmates first day at work and she couldnt get there, tried to get a cab for 45mins but they were all full, shes ended up buying a bike now, coz theres likely to be more wildcat strikes.
In other subways news, there are often jumpers, who commit suicide on the subway tracks and the subway shuts down randomly and no one knows why because apparently its a law they cant announce that someone has killed themselves I dont get it
Then there was a heat wave, and the humidity is so severe the mortality rate rises 60% all the oldies cant survive in the heat, which i can understand its quite hard to breathe...i was working a double shift, hungover as shit, basically felt like pure torture...but then came the hurricane warnings and a week of torrential rain, that was quite intense too.
Hahha my blog is like the Toronto times but Im going to keep going, the mall i was at the other night caught on fire ?? wyrd I tell ya..and the no smoking law has come into effect which is causing major probs at my work coz its an open air patio so its debatable whether or not they can smoke, customers get so shitty coz a lot of ppl smoke here. Now its world cup madness and because the city is so full of immigrants they are representing hardcore, we live beside little italy so they go crazy when italy plays its hilarious. One of my bosses is Portugese the other French so they are really into it.
The restaurant business is going well, Im making a lot of money so I shouldnt complain but would rather be using my degree etc, still going for interviews so will see, whatever will be...Jase all good, hes changing jobs to team up with an aussie builder and the 2 of them will work together, perfect setup for him basically just like what he was doing at home.
We are heading to Montreal 1st July to check out the Jazz festival, should be cool, Montreal has a rep as being a hard partying town. The clubs here are massive and theres heaps of lines and then when you get inside there are lines to go to diff bars within the club, and you cant take your drinks rah rah, guess its a crowd control thing, still cant get used to everything closing at 2am. Is it like that in Europe??
Our digital camera has died, suck ass but not surprising as Jase bought it from a garage sale, $70 its surprising it lasted our trip...will get a new one soon but have started using my clunker again so when the film is finished will post some pics.
lots of aroha
